So, you want to learn how to quilt, unsure where to start! Enjoy your summer vacation by learning a great new hobby from the very beginning processes to the very end! Learn how to pick fabric, rotary cut, read patterns, quilting terms, borders, quilting to binding! You will learn it all! This is a season long program and you don't want to miss a single class! Class will follow along with M'Liss Rae Hawley's book Make Your First Quilt. The book is available for purchase at Patches Quilting and Sewing.

The supply list is divided into two parts. The first one has immediate supplies that you will need. The other is supplies that we may need down the road. It is most important that you do not buy supplies before first class! Specific instructions will be given during the first class and you will have time to purchase what you need then. However, if you think you have any of the listed supplies already at home, bring them to the first class.

Seating is limited to 6, sign up early!

Event Title: Needle Pushers Club

Cost: $25 for six months (July 2010 through Dec 2010)
Sessions: every 1st & 3rd Tuesday each month

Join the club!! This is the perfect opportunity to socialize and finish those hand stitching projects. You can bring in your hand appliqué, hand piecing, embroidery work or even hand binding (knitters and crocheters welcome). The club will have minimal dues. The main idea is to get together twice a month, work on completing a project while chatting with friends. There will be no formal instruction in these sessions.

This beautiful BOM is great for a beginner and makes a perfect addition to your holiday decor. The series is over 6 months. Fabric and pattern will be available by the second Saturday of every month. Limited to 12 students.

When you register for our Block of the Month (BOM) programs, it is understood you are registering for the entire program. We will abide by this policy and prepare a kit for your each month with the understanding that you will remain in the program for the duration. We will require a credit card number on file and will charge your card each month for the cost of your selected programs, plus shipping and handling, if required. Programs vary, so please read each BOM series for length of program and associated costs. Local customers may pick up their BOM each month in order to save on shipping & handling. Please let us know your preference at sign-up time.

Using 1 panel of pre-printed SkillBuilder fabric (#1), Joyce will show you how to set up your machine to free motion. With practice you will be free motioning in no time!

All you need for class is backing, 1 panel, batting and sewing machine in good working order (that has the capability to drop/cover the feed dogs). Be sure to bring your machine manual in case situations arise.

Let's Go…

It's a road trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania for the Quilt Odyssey 2010 Show. Our bus will be a relaxed fun filled event in itself. Sit back, play a few games and try to win prizes and leave the driving to someone else! Come join the fun, look at the beautiful quilts for inspiration, and view all the new gadgets at the Merchant's Mall.

General Information:

Cost: $55/person
Date: Saturday, July 24th, 2010
Leaves Mt. Airy's Park & Ride, Route 27: 7:30 am
Arrives back to Mt. Airy: 6:00ish pm

Please arrive promptly at 7:30 a.m. at the Park & Ride. Bus will leave from the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center at 3:45 (We should return to the Park & Ride around 6 p.m.). We will not be serving coffee or breakfast this trip, (sorry); feel free to bring your own.

Meals are not included on this trip. You may purchase lunch at the show or bring your own brown bag lunch.
